Scarpa has a great track record, and the Rush Trk GTX is another good, all-round three-season walking boot. The brand has started using its own Presa rubber with this model, and during a couple of days on greasy granite I found it to be just as grippy as the more common Vibram rubber.

The new sole unit also comes with an engineered midsole, which has built-in absorption areas throughout the base of the foot. The upper is constructed from 1.6-1.8mm suede with a fabric ankle collar and tongue.

This feels like a good balance between durability and weight, whilst the Gore-Tex Extended Comfort lining kept my feet dry. The rubber rand protects the toe and increases durability of the leather on rocky terrain. 

The lacing starts at the forefoot and is housed in tape sleeves up to three plastic hooks, which help mould the comfortable ankle collar. The collar drops a bit more at the back than other models, which gives a nice flexibility, whilst still feeling supported.

This boot feels like it needs little breaking in, and I struggled with the narrow fit for a full day on the hill. Otherwise, this is a comfy-out-of-the-box model from Scarpa.
