Striped bass are on the move and “fresh” fish have been reported in Rhode Island and Massachusetts waters. Big spawning-class stripers are wrapping up their spawning activities in mid-Chesapeake Bay rivers and just getting started in the Upper Bay. Stripers to 40 inches are moving along the Jersey Shore bass are moving up the Hudson River.

The Striper Cup starts May 1! Sign up today, and we’ll ship out your Striper Cup box loaded with stickers, discount codes, a Rapala lure, and a fresh, new Columbia PFG shirt featuring an awesome hand-drawn striper design.

All striped bass fishing is closed in Maryland Chesapeake Bay waters. For more information about the timings and areas where striped bass fishing is allowed in the Chesapeake Bay, check out the Maryland DNR’s Striped Bass Regulation Maps.

Striped bass are wrapping up spawning activities in the Choptank River and just getting started in the Upper Bay. Scientists are optimistic that conditions have been favorable for a successful spawn.

More fish over 30 inches and finally some in the 40-inch class are being reported in southern New Jersey. Bait continues to be the most productive tactic. The back bays and bridges are seeing better action with fish on bait as well as soft plastics.

A fresh wave of bigger bass has moved into the Raritan, but a lack of bunker like we’ve seen past seasons has made the bite a bit tough.

Striper action is steadily improving with bass to 20 pounds in bays and harbors and more fish trickling east along the north and south shores. Most fish are schoolies, but bass as large as 20 pounds have been reported. On the eastern end of the Island, schools of bunker are being reported and resident bass have become more active.

River herring arrivals are perking up larger holdover fish in Connecticut’s Rivers fresh arrivals continue to trickle in.

Fresh, sea-lice-carrying migratory striped bass have arrived to Rhode Island. Anglers fishing the south-facing beaches with small jigs will stand a good chance of catching.

Fresh fish hit Martha’s Vineyard this week, and schoolie stripers are trickling in along the South Coast (Westport to Wareham). We expect to hear of more migratory stripers over the next week in Buzzards Bay estuaries and along the south side of Cape Cod.
