Here are a few options to donate your Christmas tree to support habitat restoration, beach resiliency, and other causes that benefit our fisheries in the long run. Be sure to get in touch with the groups organizing to know when and where its appropriate to bring your tree and what kind of trees are accepted.

Rhode Island – Trees for Trout

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management & Rhode Island chapter of Trout Unlimited have partnered together for the ‘Trees for Trout’ habitat restoration program which uses donated Christmas trees to improve habitat for trout and other aquatic species.

New York – Strengthen Dunes Against Beach Erosion

The Long Island Beach Buggy Association hosts an annual event called Operation Christmas tree, which collects trees to be buried in the dunes to help strengthen them against erosion.
