On Friday, May 5th, A Gunnison Colorado fisherman, Scott Enloe was fishing with his son Hunter Enloe on the Blue Mesa Reservoir.

According to measurements taken by Scott and Hunter, the fish measured 47 inches long 37 inches wide, and on scales that couldn’t quite handle the fish, 73 pounds, 29 ounces (33.9 kg)

If correct, this would break the world record lake trout. It is unclear if this will officially break any records as the pair decided to catch and release this fish. Fortunately, they did catch this incidence and the measurements on video:

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife list a 50-pound fish as the current record caught in the same reservoir in 2007. This fish clearly was much larger. In addition, Colorado’s largest fish on record is a 57 pound grass carp, which means that this fish would be simply the largest fish caught in Colorado on record.

THe International Game Fish association longest recorded lake trout was 43 inches, and according to this video, this fish certainly breaks that world record. This would also beat the Colorado record for longest fish, which was a 40 inch tiger muskie. Yes, this angler caught a lake trout that was longer than a record muskie….
