NextImg:What People Really Think About Bulow RV Resort

Are you a Thousand Trails member with the Trails Collection? If so, did you know Bulow RV Resort is one of the Florida Encore parks? This campground is perfect for enjoying Florida’s east coast’s beaches, attractions, and history. But it’s not for everyone. Today, we will look closer at this Encore park so you can decide if it’s a campground that suits your travel needs the next time you’re heading south. Let’s dive in!

Bulow RV Resort is in Flagler Beach, Florida, just off Interstate 95. The campground is about 40 minutes south of St. Augustine and 25 minutes north of Daytona Beach. It’s an excellent location to explore Florida’s east coast. Even the Kennedy Space Center is an easy 70-minute drive south.

Bulow RV Resort is an Encore park, part of the Trails Collection add-on with a Thousand Trails membership. We’ve talked extensively over the years about Thousand Trails and how this membership program has saved us thousands of dollars over the years. Members can stay here for up to two weeks without paying a nightly fee.

However, you don’t have to be a Thousand Trails member to stay at Bulow RV Resort. You can book a retail site for as long as you’d like. In addition, while some Encore parks are age-qualified for guests over age 55, Bulow has no age qualification. No matter what your age, you can book a reservation.

You likely won’t get a full hookup site if you book through Thousand Trails. If there is availability once you arrive, you can request a full hookup site. If there isn’t one available, you’ll have a water and electric-only site.

If you book a retail site, you can choose what’s available from a water and electric site or a full hookup site. There are also elite, premium, and standard options, as well as tent sites.

Guests at Bulow RV Resort have access to a swimming pool, volleyball court, basketball court, dog park, horseshoes, and mini golf course. There are also two bathhouses, laundry facilities, a propane refill station, and a dump station. In addition to the campground amenities, the staff at Bulow plan activities like dances and potluck dinners. The Florida beaches, golf courses, shopping malls, and attractions are all just a short drive away.

The location is one of the best features of Bulow RV Resort. One guest wrote, “We have stayed at this facility twice now. We’re looking forward to our next visit! It’s easy to get to, and the people here are awesome! The location is perfect! We go to Flagler Beach, then we head south to Daytona and New Smyrna. Then we get to come back to a nice quiet campground.”

Something else that’s mentioned over and over again in the reviews is the beautiful trees. The landscaping and overall setting of the campground make camping at Bulow feel more secluded. One guest shared, “There’s a lot of beautiful trees, and it feels like you’re camping!” Another frequent visitor wrote, “I love their 200-year-old trees. It’s beautiful all over the grounds.”

Although, not everyone has enjoyed staying at Bulow RV Resort. One negative aspect is the road conditions. Several campers mentioned how terrible the interior roads of the campground are. This reduces speed and keeps people from driving too fast where kids play and dogs walk, but the potholes are ridiculous.

Also, because you’re not guaranteed a full hookup spot as a Thousand Trails member, your overall experience often depends on what campsite you end up with. One RVer shared, “This campground is ALL about the site you get, and some spots are much nicer and bigger than others…Our site also didn’t have a fire pit because ‘they were a few short.’”

Another traveler wrote, “This is not a ‘resort.’ If you’re a big rig, never ever let them put you in 143. What a mess. We couldn’t back in because of this concrete utility thing, so we had to pull around the back of the other RVs and try to pull through. It was a nightmare…All the sites share a water/electric hookup, so some are backed in, and some pull through. It’s chaotic really. Just campers everywhere, and nothing is clearly defined.”

Bulow RV Resort is a good option if you want to explore the historic city of St. Augustine, bask in the sun at Daytona Beach, or attend a NASCAR race. It’s not luxurious, and you won’t find resort-type features, but you can’t beat the location or the scenery. You shouldn’t have high expectations for the overall experience at Bulow. But if you’re traveling on a budget or you’re a Thousand Trails member, it’s worth considering.
