The name for the area comes from Francisco Vasquez de Coronado. He and his group visited the central Kansas area in 1541, looking for gold. Unfortunately, Coronado didn’t find the gold he was searching for. Despite this, he forever remains a local legend at Coronado Heights Park.
In addition to Coronado Heights Castle, the surrounding area is a community park. As you’ll soon see, locals enjoy several activities here. You don’t need to be a part of the community to enjoy them, though. This can be a great day trip for anyone passing through this neck of the woods.
