POTD: Dust off the Old Iver Johnson – Bourne Knuckleduster
Sam.S 06.23.23
Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have something I was not able to find too much information on. What I know is this is referred to as the Bourne Knuckleduster…or at least the whole knuckleduster portion is. These were factory attached chunks that only appeared on the Iver Johnson Second Model Safety Automatic revolvers. These revolvers were made from 1896 to 1908 but the Bourne Knuckleduster attachment was only offered from 1906 to 1908 with roughly 7000 going out the door. This “knuckleduster”, a term that usually is applied to brass knuckles, is intended to be used more like a “skull crusher”. Something to be used with downward force on a noggin…pardon the morbidity.
