[NRAAM 2023] Aero Precision Solus Bravo – PRS Rifle for the Field

Aero Precision has been hard at work putting the final touches on their Solus bolt action rifle series and while at NRAAM 2023, I got to see the next step of their Solus Bravo rifle that is near completion and promises to be a solid option for hunters looking for a short action rifle.

Aero announced the Solus line at SHOT 2022 and instead of rushing this rifle system to market, they have been tweaking it making improvements from customer and industry feedback before launch, and it shows. I got the chance to shoot the Solus Competition rifle at SHOT 2023 Range Day and that felt like a rifle ready for the market. The Solus Bravo takes the same smooth action into the hunting world with a new lightweight stock that does not skimp on ergonomics, comfort, or adjustability. The stock Aero showed at NRAAM appears to be a perfect mash-up of a PRS and hunting rifle with its grip angle and adjustable comb height. Kirk with Aero Precision said they are looking at a lighter weight barrel profile for the production rifle yet even with the heaver profile barrel on this preproduction model, the weight did not feel much over 7 or 8 lbs. The deep fluting surely helps. The initial launch appears to be chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with .308 Winchester to follow shortly after.

The Solus Bravo rifle seamlessly blends the needs of the target shooter and hunter in one distinct package. The heart of the rifle is the Solus Action and our honed and lapped match grade barrel. When paired with the Kinetic Research Groups Bravo Chassis shooters are provided essential chassis benefits, traditional stock ergonomics, and lower overall weight when compared to other rifles in its class.

Expect a few changes between the rifle shown in pictures before launch, which according to Aero should be in the near future. Plenty of time for this fall’s hunting season.
