In fact, many more states every year are legalizing crossbow use for not just older hunters, but everyone. So, to see a company like Barnett Crossbows offering affordable, entry-level crossbows for the masses is fantastic because it can the stepping stone to a lifetime of enjoyed archery participation. Let’s walk through all of the new Explorer series models of crossbows in the Recruit XP, XP 385, and XP 405.

The Barnett Explorer Recruit XP crossbow is one of their most affordable offerings with a full retail price of only $299. It boasts a TriggerTech trigger which alone has a value of nearly $200. Then, you couple in features like an Anti-Dry Fire (ADF) system, 330 FPS (Feet per Second) bolt velocities, and a light 6 Lb in overall weight and you have a nice package for anyone to get started in using a crossbow.
Next up is the Barnett Explorer XP 385 crossbow that punches in a touch higher than the Recruit XP with an MSRP of $399. Still very affordable, but now you have access to multiple Picatinny rails to mount optics and accessories as well as a Solt-Lok floating bristle arrow retainer (quiver). Finally, there is the Barnett Explorer XP 405 crossbow that zooms in with the fastest bolt velocity of these 3 Explorer crossbows at 405 FPS. This one also tips the price scale the most at $499 – that again – is extremely affordable when other brands have some that push $4,000. It also comes equipped with a 4x32mm dual illuminated scope for ultimate shot placement and pre-installed string dampeners to reduce sound and vibrations.
