AllOutdoor Review: Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight – 700 Lumens

   12.29.23

One of the essential tools to an everyday carry (EDC) loadout is a flashlight. Whether you have errands in the city or the woods, a flashlight can be a valuable tool whether it is dark outside or not. In the past, I have deployed powerful flashlights to melt frozen locks, do maintenance under the hood of my truck, and all manner of other tasks. What is also important in a flashlight that you’d be willing to carry around all day long is its size. It is easy for manufacturers to make bright flashlights that are bulky. The real trick is crafting ones that are compact and bright. Then, it is something you could easily clip to the breast pocket of a shirt or stow in your pocket. One small yet mighty flashlight that could fit this description is the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight. Wuben reached out to us to see if we would like to review this flashlight, and I was intrigued by its diminutive size, so we agreed. So, today we are going to review the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight sporting 700 lumens to see how it performs. Let’s dive in!

Flashlight Coverage on AllOutdoor

The Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight is very unassuming in appearance because it is so small. You don’t expect it to do much, but you would be surprised by what it is capable of. With a magnetic base it can be attached to various metal fixtures while you work hands-free, it dons a rotating head so you can direct light exactly where you need it, and there are multiple light settings to choose from. All of the specifications for the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight can be read below:

As far as electronics go, that is a solid warranty should those small electrical parts ever have an issue. Some additional features surrounding the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight can be read below.

So, by many metrics the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight looks to be a great flashlight based upon its specs and all of the features it brings to the table… but how does it actually perform in the field? I brought it out to my family’s ranch to see how it would hold up for some traditional ranch chores. This entailed working with some crossed Red Angus we maintain, some jovial Mangalitsa pigs, and even some Delaware and Orpington egg-laying chickens.

The rotating head of the flashlight I thought was very clever from the first time I handled it all the way through using it outside on the ranch. Whether you have it magnetically placed against some metal or hanging off of your clothing, the 180 degree rotating head is a valuable feature. I have not seen many flashlights that offer that ability so that is something special that the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight brings to the table.

The other surprising element about this flashlight is its magnetic base allowing it to attach to innumerable metal-based objects. At first, I did not think that would be as valuable of a trait as it is. But, whether I am picking eggs, feeding pigs, or checking on our cattle, I have the ability to temporarily attach it to metal – vertically, horizontally, or upside down – and continue working on whatever I was doing.

A more common, but still appreciated attribute was the pocket clip. For some people, this is an inconsequential feature, but I liked it a lot. Not for the convenience of being able to clip it to my pocket – which I do still appreciate – rather, for being able to clip it to my breast pocket or clothing so I can work on my pick-up truck or other manual tasks where I do not want to be openly holding a flashlight in my hand.

In the past couple months that I have had this flashlight in my possession, I have played with all of the various light settings, and I do like that it offers such a bevy of options, but I spent the bulk of my time using simply the 50 and 700 lumen white light settings. That has been more than adequate for me to do all of the normal tasks I encounter on a daily basis. Yet again, I do appreciate and respect that it has those additional settings available to the user.

So, what are my final thoughts on the Wuben Lightok X3 Owl EDC Flashlight?… I firmly believe that this flashlight punches outside of its weight class – it is worth much more than its ~$80 asking price. If anyone is looking for an everyday carry (EDC) or outdoor flashlight for an array of uses, this flashlight will serve you well. I highly endorse it.
